Has it really been 3 months since I last posted? I have a lot of good qualities but apparently stick-to-it-ivism is not one of them. Alas, I am going to make another go at it. It's a new year - 2011, which is crazy. I will be 32 this year, which is also crazy. 32 is one of those ages that I remember thinking "Wow, she is a GROWN UP" about when I heard someone was that age, all the way up through my early twenties. And now I am here.
So, since September I have continued working at my same bogus but lucrative contractor gig. In October we went to Memphis, which was awesome, I would buy a condo there if they were $40k. In November, I felt slightly sorry for myself one Friday night and the next day we wound up with an 8 week old puppy. She is perfect - Nadine. Crazy, and puppies/dogs are hard, but we love her very much. Then later that month I completed the Philly Half after not running since early October due to a painful groin [that's what she said]. I was nervous but determined. My goals were finish, don't stop/walk unless dying, don't die and break 3 hours. I succeeded with all at 2:51, even walking to dinner that night. Walking is a loose term, I was gimping hard-core. And for like a week after. But I am very proud of myself and proud to poo-poo people who thought I was kidding. It was a good feeling - required a lot of Advil and gummi bears and gatorade and I almost cried at mile 12 but the end was worth it. I will actually train for one next year and maybe get up to my goal time of around 2:20-25. We shall see.
For 2011, my goals are pretty simple. Floss more, complain less, run, learn to drive a stick, maybe get married. Side notes are losing 30 pounds and getting my shit together [cue the laugh track, when aren't those my goals]. I started out today by eating ok - "healthy" bagel with 2 fried eggs, tea, some juice, an apple. I had this all after a 2.4 miles run that I completed in slightly less than 32 minutes. Kind of suck city but I hadn't run since November [the Half Marathon] so I was glad to just get out - it's also 50 degrees out [after a gnarly blizzard last week] and I would be an absolute lazy shit if I hadn't gone out. I will work on short bursts and try to get down to 10-11 minute miles. I can do it, I think. I also need a new race for this year. I should do a late winter one but I'm guessing that won't happen. So spring, summer - we'll see.
Ed just made a fantastic sauce, so we had some fusili and salad and garlic bread. Now I am having some wine and probably some chocolate. Not a bad way to start off the year!

In keeping with my quote last night to "eat healthier"
now that I have a full kitchen of food....today was again a massive fail. Work is stressful, the honeymoon of a new year is def over for now and it will be nuts-to-butts until summer. I need a vacation. As much as mandatory time off sucks money-wise, it will be good to have some breaks. Now if only we could pick somewhere to go...we bounce between tropical island of nothingness [neither of us have ever done this] or diner road trip [yum]. And I still want to Vegas for my birthday, although maybe a vacation for my b-day would be better. Maybe birthday dance party / karaoke on the actual day and then vacation the following week...or earlier, I have no idea. I hate that I need to factor in end of quarter, ahh sales.........can't live with em, can't pay for anything without em.
Wow blather, I am in a vile mood. Worked from home again today, won't even get into the last time I showered, let's just say it definitely wasn't today. People who don't work from home sweat it, understandably, but it is a VORTEX, so easy to get sucked into. I pity the fool who accuses me of not working when I'm home, I swear I work twice as hard. But yeah, day was nuts, fires all day, everyone needs everything yesterday and I kept getting major attitude and having to bother people I like unnecessarily about trivial assholery. Glad it's done.
Heading to Beth and Laura's in a bit, having some vino and bread and cheese, that will put me in a good mood. And they have Charlie the dog and a kitten, well cat now, and I love pets. Ok, so no exercise, I suck. Food:
Bagel w/ EB and CC, tea, yogurt, juice with seltzer
More tea, a maple cookie
LC of butternut squash [ehh]
4 WF B&W sandwich cookies [not as good as the maple but I could eat them for days too], more tea
Just had an apple and some homemade lemonade with mint [YUM YUM YUM]
Off to bathe so I don't embarrass my boyfriend in front of his friends, which is saying a lot cause cleanliness has never been his strong suit.

Blast from the Past
So acck, my last post was Wednesday [even though it's dated Tuesday...confusing Blogger quirk, I think...right now it's Monday night but I bet this will continue to say Sunday. It's like back to the future!], let's think.
So, Wednesday night, definitely did not do my arms, did dye my hair. Slept until the glorious hour of 9:30 the following morning, ran around all day with plans to leave at 4 to head to NJ/PA. I had a yogurt and an apple for breakfast, a Finagle Everything with butter and cream cheese for lunch [with a DC]. Went to Target and did some laundry, tried to iron with my mom. My lack of domestic skills continually impress me, it was hysterical. Packed up, was ready to leave at 4:15, Princess was late and we left a bit before 5.
Got some McD's at a terrifying rest stop in Connecticut or NT state, not to sound like a snob but they're all the same. Had my typical [I need to get back in a once a season fast food pattern, way too much lately] Cheeseburger Happy meal [girl toy] with additional cheeseburger on the side and a DC. Continued on our way, made it there around 10? Not so bad.
Met Keith and friends Sonny and Lynn from CA out and about in New Hope. Had some bread and a couple glasses of Riesling. Bar-hopped and switched to DC but had a few sips of Lynn's delish grapefruit and Belvidere and my my my, that was pretty damn good. I think Howard Stern is a big fan as well, and I learned today that his favorite beverage is my favorite beverage: cranberry juice watered down with seltzer, so maybe we share taste buds. He is definitely way more disciplined than fatty-me. Anyhow, couple sips of that and we were off.
Hit up Wawa for late-night goodies. That system is awesome to tangent a bit, you go in, pick a bunch of crap on a touch screen, it's easy, intuitive, there are a million options, the food is GOOD. Call me a product of the internet age but the less I have to talk to someone, the better. I'm not alone in this, I have a co-worker who is not a big fan of Papa Johns, but specifically orders their pizza because you can do it online. Kind of sad, kind of awesome. I had some mac and cheese, Darling had some chicken fingers and Kieth got whatever he calls a hoagie. Hoagie to me sounds like something one spits out in the shower. Gross.
Headed back to Keith and Alanna's ADORABLE and way not too tiny home, this was the first time we'd seen it. So cute, wonderful old floors and high enough ceilings and such a great yard and cute neighborhood. I'm super stoked for them. We also met their little kitties that had separate names that I can never remember, I will call them Oggie collectively because both names sounded something like that. They were also adorable, so young and bouncy and full of spriteliness. You can tell Princess has never had a cat because he was like fascinated that they ramble around and pounce on you all night, but they're kittens!! And even though he claims to be allergic, I have a theory that Ed secretly likes cats more than he lets on. Cats sure as hell love him. What is it that makes pets dig people who aren't really animal people? So weird.
Then we woke up the next day to WEDDING DAY!!! So exciting. I should separate my posts now.

We are [not] two wild and crazy guys
This does not set a good precedent, two Saturday nights in a row, blogging when I should be out trippin' the lights fandango or however that whole thing goes...
Today was nice, ate my french toast [Ed made it] with 2 fried eggs and some watered down OJ/Cran hybrid. This is my water-delivery system. I hate water, my sister and dad do too. However, I recognize that it's good for me and I need it and it makes me feel better. Left to my own devices, I'd have like 3 oz a week so I force it on me by watering down all other beverages. I actually kind of prefer it now. After my FT and watery juice, I cleaned up a little bit and then did 10 miles on the bike. This hurricane is making it muggier than anything and I was sweating profusely, I think that's a good thing? I'm not used to sweating while working out. Which probably speaks to my overall health.
Carolyn and I then headed in to town right it time for the rain to start [wtf?]. We got really good parking on Boylston and then wandered around the Pru and Copley agreeing that most of it was oh-so-lame and remarking that the new and fancy Barney's is where the Sbarro's used to be while we were in highschool. Ahh, nostalgia. J Crew had no dresses, Barney's had plenty but I unfortunately forgot to rob a bank before my trip there. Seriously, the most beautiful silver [sounds weird but think refined not Jetsons] Prada dress EVER. And mine for a mere $1500. Who needs to pay rent? For 2 months? Wow. Someday, I hope.
Correction, I hope to have the means to be able to buy things like that and maybe occasionally do it but instead I'll spend most of it on my dream house, friends and family, charities and really awesome trips. Yes. In other fashion news, I am loving how Mad Men seems to be affecting the trends right now. Anyone who doesn't watch that show should immediately Netflix/onDemand Season 1. It takes a few episodes to dig it, but once you're in, you're in. I heart Joan, and Don Draper's not to shabby either. A great show all around, how I adore television.
Headed out in the rain [note to self, do not wear cute gladiator jellies in rain / addendum to note, jellies broke upon arriving back home -they were $9 at Old Navy- so future issues are averted], got to Anthropologie where I was skeptical but C acted as my personal shopper and soon I had 10 dresses. All of them sucked except the last one which was ok but a bit big. Sure enough, they had one size smaller and it was half off, so I was sold. It's not the most amazing dress ever [Prada....] but it's also 1/15th of the cost and cute and I can wear it a few times and if I spill a goblet of red-wine on it I won't be devastated. So, check off wedding dress buying, and a month early. That's some kind of record for me, I am Last-Minute Sally. Maybe I should switch, it is much more relaxing to be prepared and such, it's just the issue of motivation. I generally only act when I fear consequence; we'll see.
Got home around 7 and had a yogurt to stave off LBS. Asked Ed what he was cooking me for dinner and then instead a Wendy's ad came on and he suggested that. I was all for it, but then switched over to Papa Gino's. So we ordered delivery, a hawaiian and a cheese. PG twice in one week sure is gluttonous but it is soo hot and we seldom order take out, so whatever. Ed's getting tattooed at 11 tomorrow, so I'll wake up early and run or ride the bike before I go grocery shopping [barf, but the fridge is utterly empty]. I think I had 5 slices of pizza, that is excessive. They were small to moderate PG sizes but still. And I had 2 vodka/seltzer juice things, they were delicious if not exactly what I wanted. We stayed in and watched TV and I went through my overwhelming piles of paper [I refer to these as my correspondence, and Darling always retorts "Who are you corresponding with?" He is such a bitch.]
What else for today....did I mention the adorable baby half Siamese in the storefront on the way to Davis? I looooove it and want to smash the window and bring it home. That would be rude to Linus but seriously, so cute. The house is ehhh, in some sort of flux. I do love it, I do. But that does not mean I am letting someone rake me over the coals for it. And hi, we don't need to move. Unreasonable people need to knock it off in a buyer's market. I am the most stubborn person I know, especially when it comes to all my money in the world. I am hopeful but willing to take a chance that there is another absolutely adorable, shingled, convenient, tiny yarded, garaged and drivewayed, 3 bedroomed, butler's pantryed, window seated and chair railed, large bathroomed house that will come on the market soon enough. And if this doesn't go through, the list I just listed will be replaced with one about all the suckage that is in the place [we're not buying the Windsor Palace here], but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Some idiot at work used "We'll jump off that bridge when we come to it" the other day. I couldn't tell if he was trying to be witty or just getting it wrong becuase he is a dumb lump. That's all and I'm heading to bed now.
