Run and Lift

That's what I did, 2.5 miles and my arms, at like 6:30 am. I did not love it but I am proud I forced myself to get out of bed period and then I was considering cutting it short and I didn't. So score two for the gipper or whatever that is. And it was again soooo hot today so the early thing was a good move.

I ate awful, fine all day and then Ed brought home a croissant, I went out for a delicious panini and fries, and 2 fruity cocktails. The some JP Licks. I feel gross right now.

Tomorrow is another day.

Blase

Is that how you spell that? It's my general mind-set for, oh the entire summer. Nothing serious, just a combination of wanting to do nothing besides sleep, watch TV and eat pizza. Not the greatest for the 40 lbs I've decided I need to lose by March. New goal! Yes, I think we will get married in March, for our 7 year itch. I figure I can lose like 10 this summer and then maybe 15-20 in training for my November race. Then I just have 5-10 for the winter. Why is it so much easier to write down than actually do?

I rode the bike Friday night, I'm down to twice a week for any kind of exercise. I have done zero running since it's been so hot. Maybe like twice in the past month? And the eating....well, it's summer. Friday we had bread? And Saturday we had Coppa and today we had meat and cake [not together] for Ed's dad's b-day. So super healthy. I've been eating vegetables and drinking a lot of water [it is so hot, you can't help it], so those are two pluses. I'm going to try and get up and water the lawn and go running. We shall see!

Ddejncjsdncjjc

Again with the re-examining of life. I've been putting off blogging intentionally because I have to REALLY think of things I like besides Ed, my cat, my family, my bed, my iPhone and laptop, and eating. I am glad it's summer even if it is HORRENDOUSLY hot. Like bad. I did a 5k yesterday in 35:20, not awful. My legs kill today but I did 6 miles on the bike too. Getting it together but for now it is a suckfest.

I'm going to wuss out and go with TV shows I look forward to. So sad.
1. Locked Up Abroad
2. Mad Men
3. Dexter [wtf?]
4. Intervention
5. The Office. I have 2 seasons to catch up on now, will make for a lovely fall saturday.
Because I prob don't have a free Saturday until then, FML.

Beyond that, I look fat in Martha's wedding pix and I look fat in Daddy's pix from yesterday. Didn't stop me from carbo-loading today. Vicious cycle.

Also, starting the wedding plans, discreetly. I'll just figure it all out and tell Ed we're doing it. This is how we work.

Monday List

I ran to Target in Somerville and back part of the way [Ed met me and we walked the rest, perfect weather!]. 5 miles. Like 70 minutes...14 minute miles?! Acck, I'm supposed to be getting faster not slower. 2h10m half marathon is moving far, far away vs closer as hoped. And I ate like a pig this weekend, but it WAS my birthday. And I haven't run in 2 weeks. I need to get it together. Running 4-5 times a week - no excuses!

My list of things I'm excited for-
1. Getting married. Who knows when, but I'm getting more stoked on this.
Def just the 2 of us, and that's the part I want - the party aspect gives me anxiety.

2. Setting up my calendar and addresses on the MacBook, total dork.

3. My bike helmet will lead to biking. This will lead to being skinny which will help me look pretty for #1.

4. Maybe a new real job. Maybe?

5. The summer not being busy. Please let this happen. I need it. If busy involves an impromptu trip to SF for a long weekend, that's acceptable. If busy involves bullshit that eats up my whole summer, I will be displeased.

ps

It's free donut day at Dunkin' Donuts. Not the best tasting thing ever and def not the best thing to put in my body, but free is free and a Boston Creme at 6:50 am while driving to suburban office park hell is not the worst thing in the world.

3 Day Instant Weekend

3 glorious days off and squat to show for it. I had such grand hopes and basically wound up breathing in too much bleach and yelling at Ed. Which would be fine except that he got me a beauteous new macbook for my birthday and I am a big jerk. But he is also a big jerk as I have no time this week to do anything and we have my birthday party on Saturday, so we were supposed to get the house into tip-top shape. And he promised! The promise resulted in him hanging 2 shades and a couple curtains. Thanks.

Anyhow, I'm back to my nearly constant state of no relaxation and no productivity. Barf. I did sleep a lot. And had some good burgers. And this thing is so shiny and perfect it kind of makes up for it. Needless to say, my week will not allow for exercise nor did last week. I have been eating ok, still too much but I cut back on sweets. Minus the JP Licks trip I berated Ed into tonight. I have a 7.5 miler on June 27th so June 7th training goes into full gear minus Martha's wedding. It seems daunting, but I think I'm just despondent in general. Off to bed, this post is just to put in writing [cause that helps so much...] that I now have no excuse to shy away from the blog. Half marathon in less than SIX MONTHS - FTW!

Here's what's going to happen

It's 1.5 hours until December. I have basically wasted another whole year of life - but it's not too late. December can be the new January and then January might ACTUALLY work for once in my life. Sadly, I just realized that today, November 30th, I ate bagels w/ CC, tea, Iggy's bread with cheese and tomatoes, more tea, juice, japanese white rice with soy sauce, more tea, 2 pieces of garlic bread. And a banana. For real, I have the White/Beige food group covered but I'm missing the rest. And I'm starving. Alas. Upward and onward.

First, good things from this year:
1. Princess gave me this beautiful ring that I stare at constantly. I love it in so many ways and am so happy-happy with him. Now when I turn onto my dreaded stretch of 495 en route to Westford, I am pleasantly surprised by a universe of mini rainbows from the sun reflecting off of it onto the inside of my car.

2. I turned 30, no great shakes but an accomplishment in itself. I am an adult! My party sucked, but I'm glad to have good friends and that Mark has since stopped drinking.

3. One year in the house, no disasters. This is a mini-miracle.

4. Fun trips - Cali, Seattle, visits to friends. VEGAS THIS WEEKEND! As much as I bemoan traveling, it makes life interesting. Plus new food establishments are always welcome.

5. Family is happy and healthy, myself and Linus included. Sometimes that's all you need.

Ok, so now let's plan. Major upcoming events:

Vegas 12/3-7 I'm eating whatever I want and not jogging, FTW.
Ed b-day dinner 12/19 Free pass.
X-Mas 12/23-5 Again, anything goes. Maybe I'll try moving at least one of these days.
NYE 12/31 We may have a party, I may put on 5 lbs. Although I ate very little at the Halloween fest.

After that, free and clear for running and salads [joy!]. In focus, I have Martha's wedding in June and Meagan's and like half my female cousins in September. These are all motivating. If I see one more picture of me at a wedding with granny arms, I'll shit. Going to try and lose 30 lbs by June, 40 by Sept. Is this nuts? Probably but I'd like to check out Ms. Moss' [paraphrased] sentiment "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" for myself as a grown up. I can always go back to over-eating and sitting on the couch later in life. Plus this gives me a head start for my actual wedding for which I need to look fabulous. I'm thinking 3/6/11 in Portland at VooDoo Donuts [a free pass day as well], we'll see. Ed should probably have a say in this too...hmm....

So I'm thinking 10k again this April and then...half marathon in the Fall? Maybe? I need to research a. easy courses and b. how/if you pee while running that far. Seriously, I am obsessed over this aspect. I had to stop once on a mini-training jog to tie my shoe and it was PAINFUL to restart. And I can't imagine jogging in place while squatting on the side of the road? Gross, I need to stop thinking about this.

Ok, off to bed. I'm not going to lie and say I'll be back tomorrow, but I am going to prepare my training/eating master plan on the flight to Vegas Thursday night. So till then!

Sandrine's is the new Chez Henri

So when we last left off [I'm now writing a radio teen series from the 60's apparently], I was heading out to Chez Henri for 6:30. I did in fact head, even getting there earlier [I know, wtf?], but I found Darling waiting outside- weird, it was definitely warmer than recently but it was like 40 degrees, and they have good drinks in there [one of my main points when Ed announced mid-afternoon we should try Il Pescatore instead. Helllls to the no, though that place does look good - this was a 5 year anniversary, and a Friday]. He announced we were not eating at CH. I was sad, but then he explained to me that the hostess was a douche. If the place had been nuts to butts I would have understood the douchery a bit more [though I subscribe to a 98% non-douche policy for the service industry, the 2% reserved for when someone is outright rude to you, then you have all the right in the world to let loose]. It was not crowded, it was 6:30 at night, in a recession, in winter. Ed is a wonderful tipper, this girl made a poor choice and I hope she realizes that. Alas, we headed into the square and walked into Sandrines. LOVED IT.

I was apprehensive about my outfit [jeans and chucks and my homeless winter hat], but there was no problem. The hostess sat is at a table for 2 in the rear with no one next to us. The tables had plenty of room around them, this is important in a smallish space. Our waitress came right over. I am totally moving to waitressing if I ever get laid off. She was nice, and knowledgeable and attentive and polite and I love now her. After we ordered we were chit-chatting and she said the staff guesses what people will order when they walk in and apparently her colleague pegged us. She also mentioned that they were both gunning for us to sit at their tables. Apparently we look laid back, hungry and like we like nice wine. If I could be described as those 3 words for the rest of my life, it might be pretty accurate. Nevertheless, I was very pleased that we come off as a good table even before we sit down.

So yeah, she was awesome as was THE FOOD. Rad crusty bread and butter to start [with the offer of a refill, we declined but I love when it's offered]. We started with this Tarte Flambee thing with scallops and bacon. OMG, yes. It had onions all over it which made me apprehensive but yum yum yum. We had a salad, also super good and Princess picked out a wonderful red wine, I of course have no idea what it was but it was great. Ed ordered some fois groie, I tried it becuase despite my taste bud, I'm not 5. It was ok, but still to cat foody for me. Ed loved it. For meals, I got Pork Cordon Bleu and Ed got the lamb chops. Everything was perfect and delish, the beans were tender but cooked and seasoned right and there was this amazing merlot sauce. Ed's was yummy too, really tender and with potatoes and squash.

I had a glass of riesling with dinner and then an Orange muscat for dessert. We ordered this chocolate cake thing, super simple but dense and rich, with vanilla ice cream and caramel and fudge sauces. SO good, not that we had room to finish it but it was the perfect cap to the meal. Walked back to the car very full and very happy. A great night!

Addendum

Not sure if I mentioned that I was having a yogurt, but I had a yogurt. Then I had tea and my bunny and now thanks to stupid Diners, Drive-Ins and whatever, I am starving for something awful and making a tortilla with butter and garlic salt [we have no bread in the hizzouse]. Then I'm going to bed, sleeping is the best diet.

Longest Week EVER

Addendum: I missed 2 beers [after cycling] and a Fiber 1 pop tart from Tuesday night, buzzed-blogging is not the most effective way to record my life.

Yesterday was Wednesday, went to Westford. Had my bagel, a couple cups of tea [I feel like I'm getting sick...not crippling just kind of ugh since Tuesday night]. Went to Papa Ginos for lunch - so good but way too much food, I had 2 slices and a Papa Roll, with a full-sugar Cherry Coke. The coke was less than awesome, I was sad to have wasted calories. But overall, a good meal. I wanted a pull out couch in my cube after but that's what a full meal will do midday.

Came home and had a Fiber 1 poptart and some fish sticks while watching the TC finale. I hate Hosea, that's all I'm saying about it. Had some Chef Boyardee MacnCheese from a can that had that artificial gross taste that I can tolerate from the ravioli, not so much from the Mac. It was gross, I still ate maybe 2/3 of the can, I'm like a stray dog, I swear. Had a couple more V-Day candies and some more tea. My teeth are going to be dark brown by 2010. Did 11 miles on the bike and my arms too [not doing bad with the moving lately, progress!].

Which brings us to today - Thursday. I had some tea, some juice and water - so trying to flush out the SICKNESS. I really do not want to be sick for the weekend. Had 2 blueberry waffles with EB and SF syrup. Went into Cambridge and got a HEC on an everything bagel and 2 more cups of tea.

We had our company rah-rah. Mandatory vacation, not awesome but there are worse things happening in this economy - way worse. I never take my time off anyway, this will force me and could e a good thing. Mini trips and house projects! I always think, I just need a break, this will be several breaks. Oh and I keep eating Werther's Originals randomly through the day, I'm 98 years old inside.

Had my yogurt too, and more tea and a Fiber1 bar. Came home and had some noodley thing Ed made and some chicken and MORE tea. Acck. Had some juice and then tea and some of those Petit Ecole chocolate cookies - those are the shit. No exercise today, I feel run down and will be working from home tomorrow. Laundry and biking while I slave away. I need to get my act together training-wise, I have like 8 weeks to learn how to run 10 kilometers. I know I can do 5, not sure about right now and god the concept of running outside is scaring me but it will make my dad so happy. And I inherited my dad's braggard tendencies and will loooove telling people that I finished it.

Ok, that's it. I'm going to finish this episode of Nip/Tuck and go to bed. Hope to wake up feeling much improved.

Piles of Post-It's

Not sure how I pluralize that: whatever. It's been almost a month, I've been trying to keep notes here and there of what I eat and what I do and how I work out but it's all just become an overwhelming mess of teeny pieces of paper all over the place, and to be honest, I'm never going to catch up at this point. Basically, I have hardly exercised for 2+ weeks and have been eating profusely [shock shock shock], so not good news. Been drinking slightly less so that is a plus, but besides that.... So, that being said - or typed - February 22 is the new January 1.

Today I made some WPF cinnamon raisin french toast and had that and a yogurt for breakfast with some tea. And some Cadbury Mini-Eggs, because we all know that's a breakfast staple. I had some seltzer and juice, and just had a couple more cups of tea. I am catching up [again] on Season 2 of Big Love and will watch the last episode on my current NetFlix while biking in about a half hour. The 10k is 4/26 and I am SLACKING. Supposed to start running outdoors next weekend. I did 10 miles yesterday and my arms, plus 10 minutes on the Wii Fit. Oooh, and I somehow agreed to stationary bike outside on Tuesday afternoon for charity. I only have to do a half hour, but it's supposed to be a whopping 33 degrees, tops. Joy!

Ok, I'm kind of ehh now, bad case of the Sundays. Bad case of the Winter Sundays. I need a kick in the ass but I think I have to do it myself, ugh. Heading to my parents in a bit, more later.

I should be at Trivia

But alas, the weather gods continue to frown heavily on my state. What is up with this? It's treacherous to drive and no one else was going so blahhh. I'm sad but really didn't want to walk there either and this is NOT drunk driving weather. Not that I ever drunk drive, but this is not even 1 beer driving weather. Next week.

I just onDemanded a new Platinum Weddings. I should caveat - I am not obsessed with getting married myself. I'd definitely like to be married someday, to Mr. Ed, and it will happen in some way or another. I'm more looking forward to a honeymoon of nothingness. I am going to an island without cell service for like a month. Or Italy for like a month. By I, I mean we - see why I shouldn't be getting married yet? However, I do loooove me some Platinum Weddings, Bridezillas, Rich Bride/Poor Bride, etc. I just find it fascinating, in the same way I love bad celebrity gossip. Anyhow, they just had their rehearsal dinner in a Wine Cave. I want a wine cave! Where do I get that?

Ok, so I left off on Sunday Night. The Steelers won, whatever. I had some thai food from a place nearby. Garlic Chicken Udon noodles, some veggie dumplings and some shumai. Really good, excited we found it. Then I had some tea and 2 reeses, a could of Dove caramels [gone now, thank god], no exercise duh.

Monday was another no exercise day, I hate Mondays. Worked from home, had my bagel, a yogurt, a banana, lots of tea and juice. Ed and I split a loaf of WPF garlic dill bread with butter for dinner. I know, not the best but this cold and dark crap is making me want to just CONSUME. And not move. Uggghh. Starting to run outside March 1. I was supposed to get organized, so I am going to calendar my life tonight, I'm already a month in and I have nothing, sad. Anyhow, had a couple of Reeses and some tea before bed.

Today I had an apple, my bagel, some tea, did 10 miles [35 min] on the bike, did my arms [still feel nauseaous after, is this what "pushing yourself" feels like? I don't like it]. Let me tangent, this endorphin bullshit is exactly that - bullshit. Exercise makes me angry, I hate it, I hate the time it takes up, I hate the way it makes me sore and tired. We'll see, I'm hoping I get through this and move into that blissful land that healthy skinny people seem to exist in. Right now it's just annoying and aggravating.

Back to food, had some juice and H2O for my workout and then some oatmeal with syrup [sugar free..meh] and bananas for a late lunch. I just had 1 square of Shaw's frozen pizza [not Roachies, but it's close]. And I ordered a large pizza, salad and some mozerella sticks from Angelina's that are on their way. I'm bad. I need some kind of kick in the ass, the Wii-fit ain't cutting it. Enough with the ranting, once the snow stops I'll feel better. Now back to MTV True Life "I'm in a love triangle". Who could ask for anything more?

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Wow I missed a week.

I started this Monday and jotted things down like 40 times all week so this is a progressive piece, but still - I'm lazy. I have a major case of the winter blahs, nothing serious just a strong urge to stay in bed and/or eat mashed potatoes and cinnamon rolls at all times. Actually, now that I read that, not that different from everyday life minus the bed thing. Oh well. I just want it to be warmish, I loathe the cold.

So it's been a bit since Saturday…about which, I remembered I had an apple during the day as well. For my Saturday night date with my couch [we're almost going steady], I had that yogurt, some tea, some peas with butter, 2 chocolates and some water. Went to bed earlyish and read, Ed was at a party at Mark's until 2 or so.

Sunday, I did 30 minutes of biking to IASIP, did some of my arms and weighed myself on the Wii-Fit. Went to the parents and had some beef, potatoes, gravy, broccoli, a roll w/butter, wine, some juice, and a teeny cup of mint chocolate Dove ice cream. Got home and had some Chex mix, more tea, 2 dove chocolates, and more juice. Do I eat too much? I don't think I eat so much BAD stuff as my portion control is in fact out of control. That will be the name of my first diet book once I get skinny - patent-pending so hands off, bitches. I just get so rude and angry and lifeless when I don't eat enough. Like my dad does correct portions but then I come home and eat a snack, or 7. Not good - when will I inherit my parents' good habits? Accckkk.

Quick review of the week, pretty boring:

Monday
I had some instant breakfast, my bagel, some tea, some juice.
Worked from home and had some chili over rice w/ jack cheese.
More tea, a giant hunk [like 2.5 good size pieces] of bread and butter for dinner.
Then some more tea and a SKOR bar. B&B for dinner = heaven.

Tuesday
Bagel w/ B&C, some Tea
99 for lunch half a RB sandwich and some salad, with free popcorn [can't say no] to start and a diet coke.
I think I had a banana when I got home?
Went to Trivia: had my pizza and 3 beers and we suuucked it and lost hardcore.

Wednesday
I W'dFH again and made some bomb-ass [1996 lingo] WPF French toast
This filled me up and I had it pretty late so I had Udon noodles as a snack.
And then a Bagel w/B&C for dinner [what?]
A Banana, 2 dove chocolates, some tea
Water, juice, throughout the day; some riesling and some popcorn during Top Chef.

Wow, in review I did zero exercise Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: BAD. I need cable in the Offigym [just christened it that] STAT.

Thursday
Went to WF, had my Bagel and some Tea
Some H20, hit up McD's for my happy meal for lunch
Ed made Burritos for dinner [yum - and I only had one because they're FILLING]
We split a dessert Watchamacallit….ooh and I had a couple of Mini-Reeses on the way home
56 min on bike [16 miles] // Arms [20 reps of each]

Friday
No exercise
Finagle big-ass HEC w/ Bacon on an everything, DD Large Tea
Seltzer throughout the morning [keeps me awake]
Med chili from ABP [mehh], Diet Pepsi
Teeny square of Bob's lasgna [made up for the chili]
1 Piece of scali bread and butter
Dessert was a mini-slice of carrot cake and a mini-éclair. Both were delicious, and local: have I mentioned I LOVE Medford? F the North End, it's so much easier to park here.
And we got a turbine! Yes, let me tangent for a moment: we now have a large and in charge, and very visible wind turbine in the back of one of our schools on 93. I am very proud of my new city, I think this type of stuff actually makes a dent in a potential issue, in a responsible and non-obnoxious way. It's a smart and future-thinking idea and I think it cost over half a million dollars but I am totally ok with that [my brain rarely allows crazy spending like this under the strict confines of my old-white-man POV]. I was siked to see it tonight on my way to my parents, I did a small cheer. The more I live here, the more I feel really comfortable and pleased with our decision. Time will tell, but I am really siked to be a happy homeowner, even if it means sitting on my couch blogging in Target clearance rack pajama pants on a Saturday night. Which is what I'm back to doing right now. In fairness, I've shopped the clearance rack since Targets came here [Oh-Happy-Day! I've been watching way too much Big love lately]. It's also cold and I prefer hibernating to pretty much anything else right now but….

Come to think of it, I'm actually in a much better mood now [Saturday night, even though my time line above is only up to Friday - sorry, I'm confusing] than I was when I started this earlier this week. I love visiting my parents and sleeping late, 2 things this weekend has allowed already. Now I am dog-sitting and will not be able to sleep in tomorrow, but hopefully I can go back to bed. Or actually make my Sunday productive and wake up early. That's no fun! We'll see how early I get up.

Back to Friday/yesterday: Small post-work trip to Desfina: couple pieces of calamari, one amazing piece of uber-garlic bread w/ tomatoes, some fries with mayo [yes, mayo]. I also had 2 glasses of wine, which reminds me I had a Corona and come chaaaaadonnay at work [earnings meeting in a recession, needs booze]. We came home and I had a mini-reeses or 2, I think? One of those Fridays, and I'm learning the recap is not my string suit anymore. Sad. I did a drunken walk to Whole Foods around 9pm. For some Cinnamon Bun Ben and Jerry's - which prompted me to shout its delicious merits while consuming it last night. It is amazing, I wish it had 0 calories.

Now as I mentioned, today is Saturday. Darling woke me up with a HEC on a bagel. Had some Tea and Juice. Ate a Banana pre-workout. And a Reeses mini. Went to my parents and had killer LBS en route so I ate an apple. At 5 Keane, had a glass of Wine, really awesome Cook's recipe baked ziti, some WPF ciabatta that I brought. Speaking of which, newsflash of the century is that if I could stop eating bread products - not even all carbs, just frigging bread - I'd look like Kate Moss. It doesn't seem that much when I eat it, even though I know I'm being naughty. But then I have to type this and read it and spell check and I'm just like "Sheeit, I'm lucky I don't look like Jabba The Hut". Back to supper: broccoli and chicken in a lemon glaze rounded it out. I had some cranberry juice and then we had teeny pieces of a WPF [yes, also me] Chocolate bread Pudding cake with some mint chip Dove ice cream and peppermint tea for dessert. Yummy! I came home and had some tea and cinnamon-sugar scali toast [with Smart Balance and surprisingly ok - I had 2 pieces]. I was late for dinner because I worked out to episode 3 of The Tudors today: 12.5 miles on bike [40 min] and my armcersises [I'm on a roll tonight!] - 20 reps of each per arm.

That's it, my head is spinning and it's 12:20 so I'm going to take Miss Mia out and go to bed. Tomorrow is the Super Bowl, I would care less. Although the Phantom Gourmet guys are making me want to eat a spread the size of a small state. I will try to resist. I need to get things done tomorrow, I am so sick of weekend where I accomplish nothing, it's pretty much every weekend. I need something to kick me in the ass. And I need to win the lottery. Excuse my typos and nonsense, long and dull week. Hopefully February is the New January. TTFN!

Top Chef Made Me Do It

This show always makes me hungry. I just inhaled half a container of Pillsbury garlic butter crescent rolls. Can someone fine me a diet plan that those are listed on? Yeah, and to top this off I sucked with exercise today. Like did squat, I even DROVE to Whole Foods, which is a 5 minute walk. So lazy. I'm not drinking though, and I did buy wine so that is good. That is an easy way to cut calories.

I don't know what happened, it's one negative of working from home...like it's 10 and then 1 and then 3 and the NINE PM? And I'm sending a work email and questioning my sanity and sad I never exercised. I need to work more on patterns in my life - getting set up in proper, healthy patterns and schedules. Sigh. Fabio just referred to Top Scallops, that was good. Blondie and Neck Tattoos are going home, right? I love Carla, or Hootie-Hoo as we like to call her. Not sure if she's a Top Chef but she makes me smile.

So for the afternoon, I had more tea, an Amy's low-sodium [it was on sale] mac n cheese, which I salted [what the fuck? I was embarrassed when I realized this] and some Diet Coke. Picked up Darling and we had some Whole Foods sushi. It was ok, I got shrimp California rolls to spice it up and they are so not as good as the crab ones. Then I had more tea [starting to understand where my brown-ass teeth come from: get me some white strips, STAT] and 2 2-bite brownies. And then I was good until the Pillsbury incident. Sigh, again. I need to work up stamina so I can run for like a half hour and eat carefree meals with reckless abandon.

Did I outline my goals? Probably, I'm becoming even more repetitive in my old age. If not, 30 lbs by Dec 31, not joking. Bitches around me keep getting married and dresses look way better on skinny chicks, plus I need a tropical vacation and I'll be damned if I am not frolicking in a bikini for at least part of it. I am almost 30 and have NEVER worn a bikini in public. I have worn a bathing suit [plain black tank] twice in 15 years. Wow, that's sad to type out, especially considering I was a fish as a child. Life begins at 30; I'm excited!

Supposed to get more snow Saturday - barf. I may or may not go drown my weather-sadness in a Reese's cup I have hidden. Good night!

Holy Hiatus, Batman!

So it's been almost 2 months. I became a [relatively] happy homeowner and learned that doing that takes up pretty much every second of your time and money at the beginning. At this point, Princess and I have just gotten lazy and it's cold and we had the holidays so I have more time. Plus I made it a resolution to blog, run more, eat less, and lose like 30 lbs over 2009. Trying to be 15 lbs lighter by my 30th in June. I need to get a scale.

Quick recap of end of 2008, I stopped moving after the 5k and gave in to all the wonderful end of year treats and beverages that were constantly around me. I haven't gotten huge, I think I'm kind of at my maximum lazy-ass threshold which, thanks to genetics, isn't obese. I am lucky. However, I'm also not close to skinny or even healthy yet and I feel like crap and keep being sick, so I need to get my ass in gear. January is the new January.

Thurs Jan 1
Exercise - 0 [gave myself a pass, it's a holiday]
Food - Made homemade cinnamon buns FROM SCRATCH [me, who knew?], had 1 for breakfast.
Had some tea and an apple. Went to 5 Keane for NY's pork, squash, roasted potatoes, some delicious cran/orange gravy, and brocolli. Had one of those Ferrer Rocher [splg?] candies [addictive, thankfully they were almost gone] and some cherry pie with vanilla ice cream, and peppermint tea for dessert. Came back home and had another cinnamon bun [it's a holiday] and split the last bag of movie theater butter popcorn with darling and went to bed. Oh, probably had some juice and water too, I have had the plague since the end of November - it keeps getting better and then coming back uglier. FUN. Unfortunately it's not one of those sicknesses that makes me lose weight. Not that that is a healthy way to lose weight, but it would be a nice perk to this vile suffering.

Fri Jan 2
Exercise - 0 I seriously had all intentions but woke up and felt like death, drove Princess to work, went back to bed until 11 and then cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, did laundry, vacuumed and watched like 8 episodes of Law & Order SVU. I had dinner plans and just ran out of time....and Ed had even set up the Wii Fit. I am a bad Resolver. Or Resolutionizer?

Food - Had my old standby, the Everything bagel with butter and cream cheese [so much more appealing than oatmeal or toast or scrambled egg whites....] and some tea. I then had an orange and a yogurt and some more juice and water, due to illness. I had a mac&cheese lean cuisine w/ tomatoes around 3 and some more tea. I threw away lots of my hidden candy whilst cleaning. Not all of it, I'll be honest. Went out for Indian with Erin and Carolyn and met her new bf, Matt - he's lovely. This is one way to diet: maybe it's because I already have a bad hack but this chicken vindaloo was sooo spicy that I could hardly make a dent in it. So I had my glass of wine, the samosa was ok, and mostly rice. My face was like red and my eyes were watery the entire meal, nice first impression to Matt. Erin and I spent a good amount of the night referring to Facebook and Myspace so he probably thinks we're weird anyway. We went to Miracle of Science for a cocktail, I had a kind of gross [but only $5] gin and tonic. I think gin and tonics are a 3rd or 4th drink for me, it didn't go down as easy as I would've liked. It's what I get for attempting to be classier than I actually am. Speaking of that, I'm going to a party and Craige and Aaron's tonight [so excited to see their new house!] and need to bring an app/dessert/booze. I have 2 bottle of Boone's in my fridge [not joking], is it trashy or awesome to bring one? Mortgages make you poor... And I legitimately feel Snow Creek Berry is delicious. Ok, so came home and had 2 pieces of Harry's holiday cinnamon-raisin toast with butter for a nightcap. And made some tea that tasted gnarly.

Sat Jan 3
Exercise - will be biking to the season 2 finale of Brotherhood that I got from Netflix. It's usually around 55 minutes, that will be good for me.

Food - Princess made me 2 eggs on an everything bagel with ham and cheese and some tea. He is a good boyfriend. We did almost murder each other mid-November while moving out of 203. That apartment was dirty and filled with stuff and 3 floors up and we were just sooo over it and tired and cranky from the long and complicated home-buying process. However, since then we have come to an understanding and have been getting along remarkably well. Moving is stressful, as are bills and leaky things that you don't anticipate leaking and appliances that don't work that you did anticipate working, etc. We fight ugly but we do get everything out and get over stuff so hopefully things will continue on a more rational path. The good thing is, it's not one of us being a super-douche and the other being normal, we are both super-douches. How that is a plus, I don't know but somehow it is...

Ok, off to paint some trim, ride the bike and prepare for the partay tonight. I'm also going to work out a training plan for our next goal: April 26 - James Joyce Ramble in Dedham. It's a 10k that my daddy runs ever year. Of course, he runs it a week after the marathon which I will NOT be doing, but if successful, it will be a milestone for me nonetheless.

New House = Blog Contraception

I'm lazy, and I have self-sufficient parents who spoil me. I have never in my life painted, cleaned and whatevered as much as I have in the past 2 weeks. And we're not even packed or moved yet. There are so many little things that are wrong or off or weird or backwards. Acckkk. Houses are a whole new ball game, one I'm stoked to become a fan of, but good god: I put my to do list on graph paper this evening and it looks like trigonometry [shout-out to Mr Stengel]. Scary.

Since I've been eating HORRIBLY [so much take-out. And Wendy's for lunch today...I made a devoted trip to Lowell to get it. Wow.] And not exercising minus the manual labor that is going to Home Depot repeatedly and painting-painting-painting [I have blisters, no lie], I'll make some notes about my house so that when I'm older and it's a palace I can recall these glory days. So we started upstairs, our bedroom looks AWESOME. I have no idea where or how we will put the bed, but TBD, TBD, I'm not stressing. I am, but lying occasionally tricks my brain. Briarwood is a great color, in hindsight I might do everything in a coat or 2 of that. Office is Wasabi, or nutto-Jungle green. This room will scare people, it already has in its brief life in this hue. Anyone who knows what a fan of chartreuse [the color not the vile liqueur] I am will look at it and instantly think perfect for her [Darling says he likes it, we have remarkably similar tastes, a blessing. Still fight like animals 75% of the time.]. It is kind of a mental-patient tone, but I love it and it will make me happy when working from home and exercising....yep....getting on that shortly.

Erin and I are supposed to go to yoga this week, I am sad to be moving away from her. It says 2.2 miles...really? That seems like a lot. I underestimate distance. We shall see. Davis Square is a perfect mid-point for us, come Spring, bring on the James Joyce 10k. I just have to figure out how not to be a flab-ass all winter, with delicious treats everywhere and my job gluing me to my seat most of the day. I will make it a goal. I need to be on time more as well, I've gotten awful in that department.

Ok, back to the house. Hallway is what I call Apartment Beige, it's called Albelescent or something and Ed likes it because "it's warm" and "makes the rooms pop" [he's out buying tampons now....totally joking, that was mean. But comments like that make me realize we watch wayyyy too much HGTV]. It's ehh, and it's applied kind of awful, our ceilings look a bit rough. This is what happens when you paint till 4 am. Again, whatever, we can make plans all winter and re-do what truly sucks come spring. When hopefully I'm less in the poor-house [wocka wocka] than now. I will not get into the lovely financial situation, but let's just say we're turning in the lotto tickets and change jar.

Guest bedroom is Marblehead Gold? Kind of Velveeta, dried darker than I'd like. It's hard to have a light yellow without looking like frosting. I may buy the chipset and analyze color all winter. I think repainting one room at a time would not be so onerous [word? not sure]. But love the little pocket closet in there and 3 bedrooms are 3 bedrooms, especially since we're never procreating. Babysitter for Life.

Downstairs....ooh! I patched HOLES IN THE WALL. Me. The railing sucked, they never grounded it to the studs or something [I feel like Tim Allen], so we removed it to paint and I did plaster of paris and joint compound and sanding and priming and I can totally see them but it looks pretty damn good. Ed did a mark or 2 on the ceiling too with that JC and it worked like a charm, elixir of the gods apparently comes in a giant tub from HD. Hate HD, sick of it. Wish local stores were open past 6.

Hallway is boring, kitchen untouched minus our giant temporary black fridge [poor choice? most likely; interesting? definitely], bath remains as is too. Those are down the road entire do-overs. Not that I do not love the avocado tub. Actually, I kind of dig it, just the rest of the bath makes me want to puke. Living room is Copley Grey, which we vetoed, then saw our new selection in person and went back to at the store. I think we vetoed because it was too dark and we were correct with that instinct. I initially felt it was army bunker-esque. Kind of loving it now, we'll see how I feel after a few days away. Getting our floors done now which is kind of freeing, since we can't be there. I'm totally supposed to be packing now instead of blogging....ha. Side note: Do I get paid based on the # of times I use "totally" while blogging? If not, I should.

Anyhow, LR is dark but it's big and it's greenish so it will look dope with our couch. Trying not to think about how wack our existing furniture will look in there in general. We'll see, it could be good. Ed says it's the color of Money and therefore loves it. Who would've thunk Princess would be the optimist half in our home-improvement odyssey? He totally is, I am negative Sally. I hate work, I hate anything physical, I hate waiting, I find flaws in everything and do not see it as "hand-painted" or "personal", I see it as ghetto. I am a douche. Ed painted my head at one point this weekend when I was mouthing off. I think I deserved it, though it was a challenge to get out of my hair. White latex is so hot right now.

Finally, the dining room. Or what Bob Gaudet refers to as the "Gulden's Mustard" room. We picked 2 good colors, Bryant Gold and Saddle Brown. Gold dried way too dark, kind of dulce de leche, def a bit mustardy, but still a nice color. Am I hungry or what with these food terms for everything....wow. And the brown is BEAUTIFUL, like classy brownie mix perfect chestnut horse-hair brown, if that makes any sense. However, together [chair rail between them] they look like a some kind of uniform from the 1970's, or a UPS truck. Not so hot. Plus, that was the last room we did and it kind of shows. The hallway shows it worse. We will be touching up 4-eva as the kids say. So yeah, if anyone has suggestions of what kind of table/wood-grain might work well with that scheme, or if anyone has any leftover vinyl furniture from the 70's, pass it along.

Ok, that's it. Work is work, life is life. Daddy is running a marathon in Texas this weekend, he is inspirational, my sister is in her apartment, Erin is 30, my cat is getting fat, Keith is married, life is flying by. Hopefully the holidays will allow for some time to reflect or some shit. I am counting down the days till Thanksgiving break. Off to shove something in my mouth and hit the sack. Or more accurately, the Tempurpedic I still have 2 years left of payments on. Life is all about choices.

6 days in 10 minutes

That's what I'll attempt to do right now. It's been a busy week, work is nuts, the house is exhausting, it's started to get cold. Bleechhhh.

Sunday: Sox lost, c'est la vie. No wine, I was good.

No running all week....wahhh-wahhhh

Monday: WFH, 2 eggs and some toast and tea
More pumpkin ice cream. Ed ate the chipwich I bought, seriously?

Tuesday: WF, 2 eggs for breakfast and toast, I think? Tea.
Salad and bread and butter for lunch. Salad was gross.
Trivia had 3 Raspberry UFOs and 4/5ths of my pizza.
I miss my sister at trivia, she's been lost to suburbia.

Wednesday: Dentist for a filling, had a banana before, giant DD tea after.
Couldn't eat until like 2, had a HEC on a finagle everything and a diet coke. YUM.
Camrbidge in the afternoon, I think I had a yogurt?
Did an hour on the bike during ANTM and my arms.
Arms were harder than before, you really need to keep up on exercise.
Rice for dinner. Made some butter micro popcorn too for TV.

Thursday:
Westford. I don't remember breakfast, cereal or eggs. Tea.
Grilled cheese and tomato with chips for lunch, and a DDP.
Had an apple on the ride home. Ed made chicken and rice for dinner.
Had 2 of my hidden Tahiti cookies for dessert. They are bomb, excellent new discovery.
Must keep them hidden in the guest bedroom from princess, at all costs.

Friday:
Finagle Everything with butter and cream cheese. Which they totally over charged me for but which I took as a lesson to a. not eat these as often and b. buy my own goddamn bagels, butter and cream cheese. I will be a homeowner in 6 days and I need to get a hold of my finances. I hate that I don't speak up for myself in situations like that, instead I quickly talk myself into deciding it's a tip and Finagle needs the money more than I do. Good god, horrible logic. Had a tea, and a LC panini for lunch [chicken pesto - gross] with PS seltzer. We had our earnings announcement meeting in the afternoon, had 2 teeny glasses of wine, a couple mini pastries, half a roast beef sandwich and a roll and butter. Booze = instant carb cravings for me, wtf?

Went out for dinner last night with Erin and Carolyn and Erin's sis Laura. Hit up Tacquiera La Mexicana, it was ok. The pear sangria was delicious, the beef burrito, ehh. Chips and salsa, always good. I don't think they liked it as much as Darling and I do, but I also feel the quality last night was not as awesome as it usually is. And they kept leaving the door open [it's almost November!!] and a bad band was setting up. So much for ambiance. Came home, gave Ed the rest of my burro [it was huge] and we each had 2 double choco mint Milanos [also hidden].

Today so far, woke up at 10:30 [YES] and Princess had already gone to Shaws and then made blueberry pancakes, eggs and ham and a bowl of fresh strawberries. I am lucky. I will have some tea now and then I think we're going paint color picking. ACCCKKKK.

"Why doesn't Wendy's deliver?"

I seriously just asked Ed that. It's been one of those weekends. Let's see, last note was Thursday. Sox came back, it was awesome. We won again last night and in about 20 minutes game 7 will start. I am stoked. I haven't exercised a peep but got a pedometer [which in my sad little head means by osmosis I'll magically be motivated to move] and will do something after work tomorrow. My arms are back to flabby, my lifestyle is back to lethargic. I feel kind of crazy. No good. Some of that is probably these 8 o'clock games, my job, and the house but some of it is no endorphins. Here's a food recap-

Friday: In Cambridge [yay!]
Had a Finagle HEC on everything....OMG, this was one of the BEST breakfast sandwiches ever. For real, like great combo of flavors, the bagel was fresh, right proportions of ingredients, it was rad. Made some tea at work, had a little apple that came with it. For lunch, met with PYV and had some Thai [pad see yu from Similans, delish] and a diet Pepsi. Should've had a yogurt in the afternoon but instead had a snickers and more tea. It gave me two snickers, I was siked. That machine errs in my favor more often than not, so I have a snack for next week already! Headed home. I think I made some eggs and toast for dinner? And had a couple glasses of Riesling? I can't remember. We did nothing, went to bed at like 11:30. I brought toast to bed, this is my new thing.

Saturday: Slept till 10:30ish? Ed woke me up with MCDONALDS BREAKFAST. I love him. I was ready to stab him 3 hours later but we really are perfect for each other and he gets me. So half a Sausage McGriddle and an Egg McMuffin started my day, awesome. Had some water/juice with that to cut the extreme salt. Packed some stuff, had an apple and headed to WR, got a large DD tea for the ride. Had a few choco-covered pretzels for a snack, nothing else. Saw my dad's pics from Azerbaijan, amazing. Again, so glad he made it back in one piece. My cat was kinder to me than the prior visit, bastard. Grabbed some Sugar cupcakes and a bottle of red and white for my trip to Pembroke to watch game 6 with Work Lindsay and Ex-Work Meaghan and their boyfriend's both named Jesse. Jesse B's son was there too, he is super cute and very well behaved. Kids still scare me, I was so impressed with how LR knew when he should go to bed and what he should eat and Jesse got him a sippy cup when he hadn't even asked. So much responsibility, I can't wait to babysit our friends'/siblings' kids on weekends. And we'll leave it at that.

At LR's, had some chips and salsa, hummus and pita [both TJ's..really good]. 3 slices of pizza, a couple glasses of wine. Everything was delicious. I didn't eat a cupcake, trying to be semi-good? Headed home after we won [woo-hoo!] and had a chocolate twizzler and some toast.

Sunday: Lazy lazy lazy. Woke up at like 11? Packed and cleaned all day, productive but there is still sooo much to do. Ed made a scrambled egg, tomato, cheese thing with toast for breakfast. It was delicious, had it with some tea and watered down juice. Today was not a good food day, thus the title of this blog. I was tired and lazy and it's finally turned cold, like heat needs to be on cold. I think it reached 50 today, maybe? I just went out for the first time right before the game to grab ice cream and water, how sad. Anyhow, had a couple bites of a corn dog, a quesadilla, a bowl of cereal, and now I'm having a fettuccine LC. I am single-handedly keeping TJs in business with the first 4 of that list of 5 , wow. I also had a few spoonfuls [big spoonfuls but still, probably 4-5 oz] for B&J Pumpkin Cheesecake seasonal ice cream. That shit is delicious, I was impressed with my restraint. Princess is napping [Pink Hat] and hasn't discovered it yet, once it's a known food item, it will be gone in seconds. I'll prob grab a glass of wine and finish leafing through my magazines while I watch the game. So exciting, so unnerving. I love/hate October baseball; GO SOX!!

Don't Call It A Comeback/ So lazy lately

So we just got 4 runs...we'll see!
The Red Sox are my best friends and worst enemies, seriously.

No exercise, Erin and I are back on for Monday.
And finding a 5k, Magoun's has one every Thursday apparently? A good goal.

Today:
Spoonfuls and Soy
Tea
Grilled Cheese and Tomato
Diet DP
Cape Cod Chips
Yogurt
2 Eggs, pieces of toast
Juice

A beer
Half of a small PB Chip JP Licks cone...so good....so not on my diet
Will be eating some bread now most likely..one of those weeks. Blechhhhhh.

GO SOX.

Nice Day for a Purple and Yellow Wedding

So Friday started with a late-ish wake up, 9 maybe? Ed and Keith went to the gym, I discovered Queen Bee on MTV. OMG, if anyone needs reason to think there is no hope for future generations, check out that program. Such brats, they were impressively awful and I'm quite accustomed to that kind of behavior.

Headed into their little town for an everything bagel with butter and cream cheese and some tea, a Cherry Zero Coke too. Had a banana and some mini Reeses and Kisses throughout the day to snack. Ran some errands and tried to help Keith out as best we could, checked into the hotel at 3. Hotel is a stretch actually. It was fine, let's just say I am not an inn/B&B person, we'll leave it at that. There were sheep grazing in the yard. I am not a farm person either.

Wedding was awesome, really really beautiful and sweet and earnest and well-planned and thoughtful and gorgeous. Most importantly, they both seemed to have a genuinely superb times, and that is what matters. I won't babble personal details of my BFF's wedding on the Interwebs, but everyone there had a 100% blast. As a taste, the last song they played for the night was Scenario. It doesn't get much better than that.

The service was 9 minutes long [awesome] and followed by drinks and apps. I had a couple Tanqs and tonics [is it bad that I kind of love gin? does that make me a holic? Princess recoils at gin and he is way more of a drunk than I am....hmm] and some mozzarella and tomatoes and prosciutto and melon. So good. Dinner was awesome, filet with asparagus and potatoes in a mushroom sauce. Had a roll with butter, some white wine, some red wine, another Tanq and tonic. Danced the night away, had some cake....soooo good, like a berry shortcake/sponge cake/angel cake thing? Whipped cream, layers of white cake and strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. So good. More candy from the favors too, of course. Not sure if there's ever been a scenario in my life that I've rejected candy when placed in front of me.

That was that, we wound up at the bar, caught the end of the Sox game [Ed and I acted like assholes, of course], made a bet with Keith's wonderful dad about the Phillies-Sox World Series that is hopefully coming down the road. Headed over to another bar for a nightcap and some pizza. I surprisingly refrained from the pizza and stuck to a DC since it was late and I was driving and had sobered up a good while ago. Headed back to Sheepville and for some sleep.
